MISSION: Planting Pride in Our Community

VISION: Make Ironton a wonderful place to live, work, play, and visit—a destination city.

Ironton In Bloom invites residents to submit nominations for May Yard Of The Month. You may submit your own yard, or that of another resident. Nominations must be submitted by May 15. Email the address to irontoninbloom@zoominternet.net or send a card to Ironton In Bloom, P.O. Box 4599, Ironton, Ohio, 45638.

Ironton In Bloom's second annual "Over The Back Fence" Yard Tour will be held from 1:00-4:00, June 23-30. 8 yards will be featured. The self-guided tour will begin at the Lawrence County Historical Museum, 506 S 6th St, Ironton, where free refreshments and maps will be available, and tickets may be purchased at the door. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Merle Norman and Weber's Florists in Ironton, All That in Coal Grove, Town and Country Florists in Ashland, or from any Ironton In Bloom member. Admission is $10. All proceeds will go toward the volunteer group's beautification efforts. For further information, call Jan Wolfe at 740-532-1030 or Judy Sanders at 740-532-2954.

Goals

  • Beautify Ironton with floral displays and landscaped areas.
  • Take pride in our heritage and preserve our history. This includes our historical homes and downtown buildings, the art and music of the region and stories of the life of a vibrant river city.
  • Clean up our city by promoting a litter free environment.
  • Plant trees and ground cover in our tree lawns, yards, schools, parks, etc. to create natural air conditioning, enhance the landscaped beauty of homes and businesses, and develop a better air and water quality.
  • Involve community members, individually and/or groups to become involved personally in Planting Pride in Ironton. Our city government, our local businesses, and each individual must make a conscientious decision to do their part.
